Woven: First Steps is the first in a series of e-courses I'll be releasing in the next few months. It's a great place to start if you're a complete beginner but it also has tips and techniques for those of you who may already be familiar with your frame loom. It's self-paced! This means you can learn on your own time, in the comfort of your own home, and rewatch each lesson as many times as you need. Get the juicy details below!
In Woven: First Steps you'll learn how to warp your loom, choose colors that play well together, plain weave, soumak, rya knots, how to increase and decrease to create shapes, add shag, explore uses for roving, and my favorite way to get your wall hanging off of your loom and onto the wall.
Each of the 16 video based lessons builds on the one prior so that you end up finishing a gorgeous, highly textured wall hanging by the end of the course! You'll also receive a BONUS lesson where you'll learn to weave a statement necklace. The course is detailed and thorough but also well organized and user-friendly to make sure you're able to confidently absorb each new technique before moving on to the next one. If you can't make it to one of the workshops I teach across the country and need a little more of a visual than my book, DIY Woven Art, has to offer, this course is perfect for you.
I use Teachery as my e-course platform. I've built over 15 e-courses in the last 8 years and Teachery is by far my favorite for it's user-friendliness and customization. If you're thinking about creating your own e-course(s), check them out here. Note: I earn an affiliate payment if you sign up to teach through this link.
